Help with
your Gripper.

Setup, helmet fit, camera compatibility and practical help getting the right action camera angle with the Dango Gripper.
Getting started

Clip it on.
Set the shot.

The Gripper is designed to make moving an action camera between suitable positions quick and straightforward. Start with the camera securely attached to the mount, then position the Gripper before setting your final camera angle.

Step 01

Attach your camera

Secure your action camera using the GoPro-style mounting connection or the appropriate adapter for your camera.

Step 02

Choose a suitable position

Open the Gripper and clamp it onto a secure, suitable surface such as a compatible helmet chin bar.

Step 03

Set the angle

Adjust the camera position so the horizon and riding view are where you want them before heading out.

Step 04

Use the tether

When using the Gripper while riding, use the supplied safety tether as an additional precaution.

Helmet fit

Check the fit before you ride.

Helmet chin bars vary considerably in shape, thickness and construction. The Dango Gripper works particularly well with many motocross, enduro and adventure-style helmets, but fit can vary between individual helmet models.

  • Make sure the jaws sit firmly on the helmet and cannot easily move from the chosen position.
  • Check that the mount does not interfere with vents, controls or your normal head movement.
  • Check that the Gripper and camera do not contact your chest when looking down.
  • Always test the position before riding.
Some helmet shapes may not provide a suitable clamping position. Do not force the Gripper onto a helmet where it cannot sit securely.
Camera compatibility

GoPro-style mounting.

The Dango Gripper uses the familiar GoPro-style action camera mounting system.

This means it can be used with many GoPro cameras and with compatible DJI, Insta360 and other action cameras when the correct mounting adapter is used.

Different cameras and housings can require different adapters or extension pieces to achieve the angle you want.

Beyond the helmet

Move it when the shot changes.

The Gripper can also be used away from the helmet where a suitable secure clamping position is available.

  • Suitable parts of the motorcycle for alternative riding angles.
  • Trackside or trailside objects for third-person shots.
  • Low positions for wheel, dirt and water shots.
  • Campsite, paddock and off-bike filming.
Always assess the surface and position before mounting a camera. Not every object or part of a motorcycle is suitable for clamping.
Frequently asked questions

Dango Gripper FAQ

Does the Dango Gripper fit every motorcycle helmet?

No. Helmet shapes vary, so universal fit cannot be guaranteed. The Gripper works well with many motocross, enduro, adventure and road helmets where the chin area provides a secure clamping surface.

Can I move the Gripper between helmets?

Yes. One of the main benefits of the clamp design is that it can be removed and repositioned without installing a permanent adhesive mount on every helmet.

Does it work with GoPro cameras?

Yes. The Gripper uses a GoPro-style mounting interface and is designed to work with compatible GoPro action camera setups.

Can I use DJI or Insta360 cameras?

Many DJI, Insta360 and other action cameras can be used when paired with the appropriate adapter for a GoPro-style mounting system.

Should I use the safety tether?

Yes. We recommend using the tether when the Gripper is being used while riding as an additional safeguard.

Why is my camera pointing too high or too low?

Helmet geometry and camera housings vary. Reposition the Gripper and adjust the camera joint first. Some setups may benefit from an additional compatible extension or adapter to achieve the required angle.

Can I use the Gripper somewhere other than my helmet?

Yes, provided you have a suitable secure clamping surface. Customers use the Gripper for bike-mounted, low-angle and third-person filming as well as helmet POV.

What should I do if the Gripper moves or does not feel secure?

Do not ride with it in that position. Remove the mount and choose a different suitable clamping point. The surface, shape and angle all affect how securely the Gripper can sit.
